New Zealand Offshore Services is currently supporting Farstad Shipping (Indian Pacific) Pty Ltd with crews for various vessels of the Farstad fleet.
Recent industry publications suggest renewed activity in New Zealand with announcements that the Pohokura project is underway with contracts for fabrication awarded to various contractor consortiums.
Further interest in Taranaki should be created by the news that partners in the Tui prospect expect to award a FEED contract this month, February 2005. Options included sub sea wells connected to an FPSO for production of the estimated 20-30million barrels of recoverable oil. Capital expenditure for development is reportedly in the range of US$120-150 million. Production is expected for a current field life of 10 years.
Final development concepts for the Marri field are currently under consideration with possibly a FPSO or FSO likely options.
